Biography:
Don Hackett has been a Saugerties Village resident for his entire life. His family settled in Saugerties sometime in the early 1840s. For many years Don volunteered for the Saugerties youth by coaching and managing in the Saugerties Babe Ruth League. Don is a member of the Saugerties Elks and the Saugerties Sons of the American Legion.
Don is a father of four daughters with three daughters still at home.

Don graduated Saugerties High School class of 1976. He attended and graduated Ulster County Community College obtaining an AAS Degree in Environmental Science. Currently Don has a New York State 2A Water Certification and a 3A New York State Waste Water Certification. For the last 15 years Don has worked for the Village of Rhinebeck.
Village Government Tenure
In May of 2009 Don was appointed by Mayor Bob Yerick to the Saugerties Village Planning Board, an appointment that was approved by the Village Board. In September of 2009 Don was asked by then Mayor Bob Yerick and deputy Mayor Bill Murphy to join a fact finding committee on the Village and Town Police Consolidation.
Don is on the Board of Directors of the Ulster County Community Action organization and the Saugerties Historical Society.
Description
Donald Hackett was appointed to his current position as a Trustee on the Village Board in May of 2009 and he was re-elected in 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020 and 2022. His current term lasts until 2024.
Responsibilities:
Don is liaison to the Village Planning Board, the Village Zoning Board, the Village Wastewater Department and the Village Building Department.
