Responsibilities: The Village Department of Public Works (DPW) is responsible for the maintenance and plowing of 27 lane-miles of road in the Village.  This involves street repairs and resurfacing and working to correct drainage problems, with the goal of  keeping the Village streets safe and clean.  Snow removal from the Village Streets takes approximately 3 hours using five plow routes to completely clear the streets.

The DPW removes trash from the receptacles in the Business district.  The DPW does not pick up residential trash.  Residential trash removal is through independent contracts arranged by the resident.

The DPW provides “Spring Cleanup” – Village residents may clean up their property and put yard waste - brush, limbs and leaves - curbside to be picked up.  Christmas trees (no longer than 6 feet and trunk less than 6 inches wide) can be put curbside to be picked up as well.

In the Fall the DPW provides “Leaf Pickup” – residents may rake their leaves to the curb for pickup.  The brush and leaves are processed into mulch.   The dates for these cleanup/pickup days are typically around:

  • Mid-April for Spring Cleanup
  • Mid-November for the Fall Leaf Pickup

For specific dates, please stay tuned to the Village home page and the Village Facebook page, and/or the Lighthouse TV23 television channel (Spectrum cable).
