  • Kayakers Launching from Village Beach - Daily Freeman2.webpWith its location on the Hudson River, and with the Esopus Creek meandering through it, Saugerties provides many opportunities for trying out your kayaking and canoeing skills.

There are 4 great Saugerties locations for conveniently launching your kayaks, canoes or boats:

    • Tina Chorvas Waterfront Park (Village)
    • Saugerties Village Beach (Village)
    • Glasco Mini Park (Town)
    • Malden Park (George J. Terpening Sr. Memorial Park) (Town)

You will need a permit (see bottom of page) to launch a boat or jet-ski from these locations.

    Village Locations

Tina Chorvas Waterfront Park and the Saugerties Village Beach are Village locations and to launch your vessel from either or both of them, you are required to download a Village Boat Launch application (see link under "Documents" at the bottom of this page to download ... good from April 1 to October 15 of the year the permit was obtained) and submit it to the Village Clerk (43 Partition Street) with the required fee.  The fee is waived for Village and/or Town of Saugerties residents.

Note that completing the application requires that you indicate you have received a copy of the NY State Boaters Guide and will comply with federal, state and local laws governing the use of NY State waterways.

We also ask that anyone who wants to launch a canoe or kayak from these locations should register themselves by filling out a boat launching permit application. This helps ensure that you can park at the particular location, and it provides a potentially useful record of the fact that you are on the water, should any questions arise.  (There is no fee for anyone launching canoes or kayaks ... but the form should be filled out regardless.)

    Town Locations

Glasco Mini Park and the Malden Boat Launch are Town locations and to launch a vessel from either or both of them, you must visit the Town Clerk (4 High Street) and complete a Town Boat Launch application.
