Village of Saugerties

Biography

Jeannine Mayer is a lifelong resident of Saugerties. She has two daughters, three granddaughters, and one grandson.  Jeannine graduated from Saugerties High School and Ulster County Community College, and holds an Associate in Applied Science degree in Business Administration.

Jeannine retired in 2017 from M&T Bank, where she was employed for 38 years. She was an officer of the corporation and held various licensees. After retiring she worked as a teacher’s assistant in the Saugerties Central School District until Covid.  She is now employed part time in the Town of Saugerties Highway Department.

She previously was a member of Saugerties Jayncees, holding offices of Secretary and Vice-President, and worked on committees such as 4th of July, RIF, and Buckle Up Babes. She also served as treasurer of the Cahill PTA.

Currently Jeannine is an active member of 17 years in the Kiwanis Club of Saugerties where she held the offices of Vice-President and President.  From 2003 until 2022 she worked as the site coordinator of the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival, and July 4th committee. Other committees within Kiwanis Club include Karing for Kids, Community Needs, and Scholarship. She also serves on the committees of the Snow Moon Festival and the 30th year anniversary of Woodstock festival held in Saugerties.
 
When not involved in these organizations she enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends, taking in movies, reading, gardening, playing games and decorating.

Village Government Tenure

During 2009, her first year of service on the Village Board of Saugerties, her area of responsibility was overseeing Buildings and Grounds and participation on the Historic Review Board.  She also investigated and enrolled the Village in the MEGA program.  During the pandemic she helped disseminate information on the various grants and program NYS offered to businesses and restaurants, along with changing restrictions. She also assisted with the high school “Prom”enade.

Jeannine was named Deputy Mayor in 2011.  She was reelected to her Village Trustee position in 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021, and 2023.  Her current term expires in 2025.

Responsibilities

Jeannine is the Deputy Mayor and is presently responsible for all special events which include the Mum Festival and Holiday in the Village along with public relations.  She is Village liaison to TV23, the Saugerties Chamber of Commerce, and the Saugerties Arts Commission.  She also serves on the Village Revolving Loan Committee and is a member of the Comprehensive Plan Committee.
