It is the mission of the Saugerties Community Youth Awards Committee to recognize and reward the young citizens of the Saugerties Area who are "caught" making good choices and doing good deeds.  Our goal is to reinforce this positive behavior in our youth as well as to instill community awareness of the positive contributions by these young citizens.

The Saugerties Youth Awards concept, devleoped by SAGE, has been adopted by the Town and Village governments.  The Town of Saugerties, Village of Saugerties, Saugerties Central School District, Saugerties Boys and Girls Club, and Family of Woodstock have teamed up to make this program a reality.

Any school age young person living in the Village or Town of Saugerties may be nominated for demonstrating behavior that goes above and beyond normal everyday courtesy, such as:

• Kindness
• Selflessness
• Bravery
• Community Spirit/Service

All Saugerties residents, including parents, teachers, employers, and friends are encouraged to nominate any young individual "caught" doing good.

Nominatoins received will be considered for selection by the committee.  The Village Mayor and Town Supervisor will present awards at the Village and Town Board meetings  respectively at designated Board meetings.
