Bakers and Gardners alike are being sought by the Friends of the Saugerties Public Library to help make their Street Fair on Saturday, May 26 from 10 to 3.
Donations of baked goods and healthy plants can be dropped off the day of the event beginning at 8 a.m. and until 9:30 a.m. at the Fair site along Division St. which will be closed to traffic. The event will be held rain or shine under tents
This new event replaces the highly popular annual book fair that has been held at the Kiwanis Ice Arena, said Katie Scott-Childress, the Library's director. "We've just completed an expansion of some wonderful outdoor space and want to bring more people to the library so they can see all the work that's been accomplished since the Library's renovations," Scott-Childress said.
The Library Stree Fair has been planned especially with families in mind and will include a petting zoo, face painting, a bike helmet fitting and giveaway as well as other activities and live music. Rae Stang, of Lucky Chocolates, is featuring her extraordinary Carnival Games.
Of course, it wouldn't be a library fair without many gently used books limited to gardening, cooking, and children's' genres. And, the every popular Friends of the Saugerties Public Library bakers and their helpers will be featuring their luscious sweets.
In addition, a plant sale will be available.
