Direct Energy Solar™  recently donated a rooftop installation of solar panels at the Frank D. Greco Senior Center, and now, it’s time to ‘flip the switch’.
The installation is the result of the successfully concluded Solarize Saugerties program made possible by Solarize Hudson Valley, a state supported and community-sponsored energy program dedicated  to raiseawareness, educate local citizens about solar through outreach, and, of course, give back to the community.  Solarize Saugerties Team Leader Mary O’Donnell credited the success of the program to the team’s efforts, supported by Solarize Hudson Valley, and the Saugerties Town Board.

“The donation by Direct Energy Solar will benefit the community for years to come,” said John Wackman, Program Manager for Solarize Hudson Valley.  The donated solar system’s projected annual output is approximately 5.550kWh.

The community will further benefit due to the Direct Energy Solar promotion. As part of the promotion, the Community Foundation of Saugerties will receive a $250 donation from Direct Energy Solar for each contract signed, by homeowners residing in Ulster County, not just Saugerties.  The donations will benefit the rebuild of the Small World Playground.

Saugerties Superintendent of Parks and Buildings Greg Chorvas stated, “We are thrilled to see the successful installation at the Frank D. Greco Senior Citizen Center, and equally thrilled with the clean energy it will provide for decades, along with cost savings and beneficial environmental impacts.”

Chorvas also cited Solarize Saugerties and Solarize Hudson Valley for making the donation possible. “The Solarize program was very well received by the community and I truly hope the same enthusiasm will continue during the promotion.  It’s a win-win, all around, for homeowners and the rebuild of Small World Playground,” said Chorvas.

Dung Tran, Head of Direct Energy Solar, is also looking ahead. “We’re not done with Saugerties yet. During the ‘Solar’bration, we will kick-off a new way for neighbors and friends to help their community.”  During the promotion period from March 25 thru May 15, 2017 in addition to the donations to the Community Foundation of Saugerties to help rebuild the Small World Playground, Direct Energy Solar will provide a $2,000 discount to the homeowner.

The Saugerties Solar’bration takes place on Saturday, March 25 at 3:00 p.m. at the Frank D. Greco Senior Center, 207 Market Street. The public is invited and encouraged to attend and learn more about the Direct Energy Solar promotion.  Light refreshments will be available.
